So Long, Farewell, & Keep Dressing Like You Own It

Conscious Fashionistas has styled you, dressed you in ensembles that you’d never choose for yourself without a little fashion push in the right direction, and you LOVED it. (As we did, too!) It’s not a dream that you get continuous compliments about your clothing from strangers, it’s the beautiful reality of your new confidence that was bottled inside of you long before Conscious Fashionistas came along. We at Conscious Fashionistas are still passionate about our initial mission: to create an alternative to the mainstream fashion model with a community-based agenda and a sustainable way of shopping, but the time has come for us to close shop. The four of us at Conscious Fashionistas, Amanda, Nayomi, Poonam, & Madison would like you to know that we leave it positive and could not have created these events repeatedly without you.

So where are we going? Not very far. But here’s what we’re up to. Amanda is still thrifting and conjuring up dreams for a future in Europe someday, somewhere, where it’s warm, siesta is a part of everyday life, and children and adults laugh in another language without stress over good wine and food with the setting sun. Until then, she’s working on her second book where you can check out her progress on her blog. Nayomi is spending time working on her writing, teaching and cuddling with her cat, the ultimate Fashionista, Kitty. Poonam is exploring her inner fashionista by decorating her new home and perusing other creative projects. And Madison is pursuing other entrepreneurial fashion opportunities. You may purchase some of her designs at Backspace Boutique: www.backspacesf.com or for custom clothing designs, you can contact her at: www.tamaramadison.com.

We love and appreciate all of you for supporting us with this amazing experience and hope that you will forever remember to Always Be Your Own Brand!

Love,

Your Favorite Conscious Fashionistas

Conscious Fashionistas Presents at Pecha Kucha and Dresses Homeless Women at A Good Day

One of our favorite and most important aspects of our business is to find ways to give back to the community. It’s a simple thing, really, since it’s aligned with our values both as individuals and as a rockin’ team of four!

And it’s even easier when ways of giving back seem to effortlessly come to us.

On Friday, December 12th, Poonam Kapoor, our favorite Operations & Finance guru in our Conscious Fashionistas crew, will present at Pecha Kucha in Oakland. She’s been creating and rehearsing their streamlined format of presenting 20 slides at 20 seconds each to an audience of local artists, designers, media, and lovers of new ideas. And it’s quite fitting, since December’s Pecha Kucha theme is NEW. We’ll be explaining how reusing what’s already on the planet, shopping to help foster community, and celebrating the brilliant curves of a natural woman is the NEWest and best idea to come around this year. We’ll be posting the video of our presentation, so check back!

Then on Sunday, December 14th, Conscious Fashionistas have donated their time and a trunkful of their thrift couture to A Good Idea, who will make Sunday A Good Day at A Good Hotel to pamper, makeover, and dress San Francisco’s homeless. We’ll be working the women’s clothing area and making women feel great about themselves.

You can always keep tabs on our whereabouts and our gifts to the community through our photos on our Facebook page.

Our next shopping party hopes to arrive like the flowers in the spring, so check back here after the New Year for more news and have a fantastic roundout of 2008 for what we believe will be an even more fantastic 2009!

Love,
Your Favorite Conscious Fashionistas

San Francisco, CA 94110

Change your look while keeping the change in your wallet.

At our next Conscious Fashionistas Shopping Event we will style you silly, dress you funky, green your wardrobe, but also pink, yellow, and purple it up. We’ll create outfits that turn heads and have people stop you in the street asking, “Where did you get that?!” All at a price that will keep you smiling.

On Saturday, November 8th, let us serve you inventive cocktails while beautiful paintings by Michele de la Menadiere grace the walls. Shop thrift till you lift, when belly dancers from Electric Vardo dance us into the Conscious Fashionistas fashion show, with models strutting our gear down the runway. Afterwards hit the dance floor to the sounds of our favorite DJs.

Come and shop for amazing clothes that will transform you, too, into a Conscious Fashionista. We’ll provide a sexy shopping atmosphere and expert advice on which items suit your personality and look.

While we don’t have clothes for them yet, boyfriends, male lovers and husbands absolutely LOVE our events, or so says one of our favorite husbands:
“It was a pleasure to go shopping with my wife at the last Conscious Fashionistas event because I didn’t have to wait forever for her or become bored as I do at a mall or at a shop on the street. I had so much fun, hanging out with my friends, dancing, drinking, and getting to know everybody! You guys already pick the best pieces so my wife doesn’t have to dig around and wait in a slow line just to buy expensive stuff only to get attitude from an underpaid cashier. I’ll be at every event!”
- Carlos Pena Garrido

Conscious Fashionistas Thrift Couture Shopping Party: Part Deux Is A Sexy Success!

Private fashion consultations, the coat that started it all that sold, the blouse from one Conscious Fashionista that sold to a client right off the fashionista’s back…plus sexy fashions strutting down the runway straight into the biodegradable shopping bags of our clients, four hours of the dirtiest of dancing, dressing room friendships, and late night acrobatic circus routines from flexible fashionistas off swinging clothing racks…these are just a few of the highlights from Conscious Fashionistas Thrift Couture Shopping Party on Saturday night.

Stay tuned for some video and photographs, but in the meantime, while you’re strutting the real world runway and that certain someone stops you on the street to ask, “Where’d you get that?” Just smile and say CF. They’ll love you for it.

Love,
Your Favorite Conscious Fashionistas
Amanda, Madison, Nayomi, and Poonam
